You should spend more time at WordCamps and in the .org community areas and less time wherever you’re getting what makes you think it’s 50%, probably X/Twitter. 🙂 As The Repository just wrote the sentiment there is way out of line with everywhere else.

That 5% can make your life hell and ruin your entire day. You’re just starting your morning, and someone says the most ridiculous thing about you—and worse, people seem to agree with it.

The real issue is that they call it criticism, and if you respond, they say you’re out of line. But bullying, hating, and tearing someone down is not criticism.

For example, I may not 100% agree with something you do in WordPress, and I might wish it could be better. But there are two important things:

1. You are the one who started and guided all of this, and that alone earns the utmost respect.
2. A disagreement should never justify disrespect in any way.

Most of us are sympathetic with your issues with wpengine. But being selfish, petulant, and vindictive is not the way to bring about change.

When you look back an extra billion is not going to compensate you for ruining your legacy. Please change direction and be the leader we once admired

The more people involved, the more noticeable even small percentages become. It’s a good reminder of how perception shifts with context and scale, but ultimately, the ratio remains the same.
